• Greetings from the Ordinance and Order. We meet here yet again on this Sacred Day to field yet another question. This time, a question was emailed to us from a spiritual but not religiously-affiliated reader curious about whether Xyphoites celebrate other holidays—particularly Christmas, so let’s answer this.

It’s somewhat of a bafflingly easy answer but to address that question of whether Xyphoites celebrate Christmas, the answer is no. We are Xyphoites, not Christians, so logically the answer would be no. Adding to that, the holiday of Christmas, in accordance with Christian mythology, highlights the birth of one of Deceptuary’s highest-ranking disciples, Gheisuhz dej Trinte, and ushered in the creation of the Archives of Hatred and the spread of one of the three theigrited philosophies. The entirety of this circumstance directly destabilizes the equilibrium and aids Deceptuary in his goal to collapse the worlds and reform them to be subservient to only him. We don’t celebrate Christmas, nor would we celebrate any holiday from any of the theigrited philosophies, that being Judaism and Islam and all of their subsets.

Other religious holidays from divergent philosophies would likewise not be celebrated by Xyphoites simply out of the principle that they aren’t Xyphoist celebrations. In fact, the entire premise of the Xyphoist Philosophy discourages the celebration of its own annual markers. As this is a realmly philosophy and system, there is no specific set time period to celebrate specific events as all time is relevant. For example, a Root Spirit in Aehixyka won’t be celebrating an event that is happening to Mortal Humans in Nikconzin based of the relative time frames. This doesn’t prevent Xyphoites from celebrating Earthly ethnic celebrations or other such non-religious/secular holidays, however. This pertains only to religious or spiritual holidays from other divergent/theigrited philosophies.

That being said, we aren’t interested in the immoral action of open proselytizing and aren’t going to shout down anyone for putting up holiday decorations who might be affiliated with the Ordinance or is a Xyphode. The malleability of our philosophy recognizes that the holidays this time of year have become very commercialized and almost secular; there are people, sometimes even atheist, who partake in holiday celebration to religious  philosophies they don’t believe in. The present-giving culture appears now to be a commercial and mainstay custom regardless of religious affiliation or lack thereof. We here at the Ordinance certainly aren’t going to persecute anyone for giving a gift to others this time of year, or putting up a tree/decorations to be festive with Yule; the putting up of religious homages to Gheisuhz dej Trinte or Christianity itself—including the singing of Christian hymns—would be considered too far off the Xyphoist Philosophy, but one can still enjoy this music from an artistic standpoint and not feel too strayed from the Order if they so choose. Either way, the Lords aren’t likely to bother themselves if a Xyphoist follower sings Carol of the Bells as there are much more important things to focus on.

It’s also recognized that, around this time of the year, the desire to be giving and altruistic tends to increase as so many people are in jubilee. This is where the pragmatic portion of Xyphoist Philosophy comes into play. At a time where most are in jubilee, a temporary serenity is possible across much of the Human word, and Xyphoites should take advantage of this by also contributing to the good energy. While it’s unfortunate that theigrited followers tend to only be altruistic at this particular time of year, this is a great time for Xyphoites to also contribute to the nature of mitigating worldly suffering, as we should be doing every day at all times regardless of the seasons. There is no need to spoil good vibes over philosophical differences, but we don’t, as a whole, partake in the religious ceremony of other philosophies.

  • Greetings again from the Xyphokonic Order and Ordinance. Today we continue our lengthy series on all things Purity, Prayer, and Worship, along with some general questions tossed in for the next two Periods. Today we field a question about Xyphoist Prayer. How, generally speaking, does Prayer work in Xyphoist Philosophy? Let’s briefly touch on this.

To briefly recap, Xyphoist Prayer is akin to a form of spiritual meditation in which one opens their Heart and Mind and gives their spiritual resonance to the Spectrum. Prayer can be done both individually and in groups; however, Xyphoist Prayer is a private or closed matter done either within the home, in Houses of Worship, or on theigrited lands to repel evil. Prayer is not to be done in public spaces or audibly/visibly unless Kurathmas has been declared. Xyphoist households will often have a specific room in their house, usually on the lowest or highest level and often tucked away, specifically for Praying in. This, too, is optional and up to personal choice.

So do Xyphoites have a specific time or day in which they MUST pray? Not exactly. While it is recognized that what we now know as Saturday is a Sacred Day in which Houses shall have open joint Prayer and the House Choir will hold a high noon ceremony, there is no requirement that Prayer MUST take place at this time on this day. Prayer can happen at any time on any day; the Ordinance simply recognizes Saturdays as a time for joint community action and Prayer.

So what exactly do Xyphoites pray for? The mitigation and end of worldly suffering. While Prayers may vary, the end goal of all Xyphoist Prayer is to mitigate the suffering of the Realms from Deceptuary’s corruption and other dubious forces. The Prayer can be individually targeted at specific grievances or tragedies, but the end goal is still the same. All Prayer is aimed at mitigating worldly suffering.

Then, is there any specific ways one MUST pray? Again, not exactly. Prayer is usually done internally, often audibly by varies incantations and chants, very frequently done through song or group vocal harmonization (such as the Choir), etc. So long as the spiritual state of sharing one’s resonance is achieved, Prayer can vary in its form.

Of course, Prayer must be accompanied with Practice, but that is another discussion entirely. We will also investigate different types of prayers in another installment, but to address the general question of if there is a specific guideline for Prayer, the answer is quite Xyphoist: it varies.

With that said, today is a Sacred Day to pray, so please have a Sacred Day!

  • Xyphokonic Purity Defined.

Greetings, all, from the Xyphokonic Order and Ordinance. Welcome back to the First Period of Lord Carnyie, Desentuer. As the next two Periods of Watching are under the Lord’s care, we have ample time to speak on topics revolving the Carneiyean Xyphozon, Purity and Worship, address current events in regards to the Cosmic Struggle (as we’re currently under Yrridthmas), and also field some other general questions from the gallery. Today we will open this discussion with the topic of Purity as it is defined within Xyphoist Philosophy. In this discussion we’ll define the term and go into how Purity works. Shall we?

Purity is defined as the balance and serenity from wielding the dissonance between the Xyphoist concepts of Misted Unhinged Grievance and Illuminated Shackled Misery in order to bestow Mercy and cleanse the innocent of corruption unjustly wrought upon them; Purity is, of course, an attribute of the Carneiyean Xyphozon.

To put it simply: Purity is blessing the innocent from suffering, and the key part of Purity is that it is applied to the innocent and not to evil. This is essentially the manifestation of forgiveness within Xyphoist Philosophy. As we know from the Commentary on Divine Punishment, Xyphoist Philosophy leaves no room for forgiveness to evil, willfully corrupted and tainted actions; for those individuals who have the intent to do evil or who intentionally succumb to immorality, only Punishment awaits them. Purity, and by extension forgiveness through the Mercy that Purity brings upon, are given to the victims of evil and immorality that may have been forced to commit immoral acts or are in need of Mercy from their unjust suffering.

Purity is broken down by two major sides: Misted Unhinged Grievance and Illuminated Shackled Misery. We first learn of these concepts within the Sacred Lesson given to the Child of Purity. Misted Unhinged Grievance is the principle that demonstrates a raw, genuine and pure emotional response to trauma and pain/suffering. This state of Purity satisfies the need of others to see the caster of this blade being true and pure to themselves—showing those that  need that authentic emotional response that the caster is also being empathetic. The caveat to this side of Purity is that it comes with a misted blindness as the pure emotional response often clouds one’s judgement.

On the other side of Purity is the principle of Illuminated Shackled Misery, which is the state of being free of corruption but chained to a stasis of oblivion.  In bringing this type of Purity to others, granting them Mercy through the lack of pain, the caster  of the Purity shall be shackled to the guilt and reservation of such a misery but have a clear and illuminated serenity at the action. To sum it down, Illuminated Shackled Misery is taking upon a personal sacrifice in order to bring relief and Mercy to others, and by doing so, one takes a burden upon themselves—often in the form of a guilt at bestowing a Mercy to others. We often here of examples in which people “put them out of their misery;” this is but one example of this. Taking upon huge burdens in order to alleviate the suffering of others also falls into Illuminated Shackled Misery.

These two principles have a natural dissonance between them, and as the Sacred Lesson states, a person with great internal conflict and dissonance inside themselves. People of this state understand the need for Mercy the most, upon taking the huge sacrifice, will be empathetic enough to try to bring that Mercy to other innocents that are suffering. Essentially, the purpose of Purity is to bring Mercy and eradicate corruption and suffering from Innocent souls.
